The Staff Room is a dedicated space for teachers, careers and education professionals where they can network, share best practice and get up to date careers information to benefit their employer and their own continuing professional development (CPD). Alongside a packed seminar programme, a host of resources and advice will be available to help those providing careers guidance to share new ideas and approaches.

10:00 -10:45 Manchester Growth Company LMI for Schools / College Professionals The careers inspiration team will be offering CPD sessions on Labour Market Information (LMI) for visitors. The sessions will also include the  ‘Inspiring a Generation’ publication to share with professionals from schools and colleges across the area. 
10:45 - 11:30 WorldSkills UK Accelerated Learning Trainers from WorldSkills UK will provide an insight into the methodologies applied across their development programme –
  • Share how the skills competition methodology can accelerate the learning process.
  • Demonstrate an element of skills competition practice that can be used in Teaching Learning and Assessment.
  • Provide details of how to book onto the full programme.
11:30 -12:15 Elita Eliades Generation Z - supporting the development of transitional and life skills Make Your Mark is a new Middlesex campaign developed by the Education Liaison and Outreach team. The campaign is for 11-16 year olds. This is an exciting project for the team, drawing on a genuine interest in how young people develop their transitional and life skills and how we can best support them towards successful outcomes
12:15 -12:45 WorldSkills UK Championing the Way Come and hear about how WorldSkills UK’s Skills Champions and Careers Toolkit can enhance your schools careers offer and provide unique insights into different sectors for your students.
12:45 - 13:30 Helen Hawxwell - Greater Manchester Apprenticeship Company Reward their future – with an apprenticeship! Apprenticeships have changed, and 2017 brings more changes. In this 30 minute session, you’ll get a short, focussed overview of the latest information and key things they need to know about apprenticeships, from a group of 10 of the largest further education and skills providers in GM. You’ll hear from and have the opportunity to ask questions to a current apprentice, and receive some printed material you can take back to school to promote apprenticeships
14:15 - 15:00 U-Explore Get Connected This session will look at how digital and online resources can help young people to make better and more informed choices about their career path.

11:30 -12:15 Sophie Hope - Careers Enterprise Company Creating Links with Business This session will focus on stratgies and approaches schools and colleges can use to engage and work in partnership with businesses to create opportunities for all young people
12:15 -12:45 Elnaz Kashefpakdel - Education and Employers Taskforce  Employer Engagement in Education - Lessons From the Evidence for Best practice What difference can it make to young people when they engage with employers and how can schools optimise positive benefits? The session will present an overview of recent research exploring the effectiveness of employer engagement in education.  Structured around simple tips, it draws on studies identified by the Education Endowment Foundation as providing reliable and relevant insights for professional practice
12:45 - 13:30 Claire Bayley -  Enabling Enterprise Skills to Succeed: Developing Skills for the Classroom and The World of Work The session will focus on what enterprise skills are, why they are a necessary part of the curriculum, and provide some "take away" practical activities that can be used in the classroom in any subject area.
